Now, im not here to review the support act, and im glad. The reason for this is because I did not enjoy him. I won’t name and shame the monotonal sounding “blues” guy, I am here to talk about the act that followed that man that practically abused ‘At Last’ by the late Etta James.
The Act that I am reviewing is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. This May be a quick review, only because this was one of the greatest gigs I have ever seen. Not only because I bumped into a celebrity Ex Coronation Street’s star , Graham, but because ESMZ were so fantastically brilliant.
The perfect accompaniment to the bands’ gig was the venue. It was at the Manchester Cathedral, a beautiful building only hundreds of yards away from a typical city MEN arena, it makes you feel something else being based in there. It has a great set of acoustics and a perfect area for everyone to gather round the energetic band and their timewarp songs.
Hearing most of the songs over the two albums blew my mind. It was a privilege to have seen them live and i can only prey to see them again soon.
If I have money, they would be my wedding band.
Anyway, as usual I am stringing my review as I am still sound struck by the sheer brilliance of this band, so I will share a brief interview with Edward Sharpe* himself;
Hello Edward, glad you managed to take time from the band to come on a walking aquarium interview with me.
No problem, I have an aquarium at home, obviously. But, you know how it is when some days, you just can’t stand the sight of your own damn fish.
Absolutely. I mean, I dont have an aquarium myself, but theres a neighbours pond that I can always see from my bedroom that I just don’t like. It has no actual fish in the pond but I….
Exactly.
So how do you like Manchester so far?
Well I was actually born here. Second birth I mean. I was breach in America and the reverse clearly means It was the town parallel to my hospital, making it Manchester. That’s what drew me to the place. The similarities to my birth zone.
[ES circulates where ovaries would be]
I agree. Theres a certain unforgettable sense of ‘been there’ to this place.
I agree with you agreeing with me and following me up on that. I also like durian fruit when I am over here.
The smelliest fruit in the world? Not sold in the UK?
The best!! I ate it whilst on set with Barbara Windsor in The Eastenders Motion Movie Picture.
Well its been great talking to you Mr Sharpe. We Wish you the best of luck on your toursings.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are still touring and both 10/10 albums are available in all decent shops now.Buy them both and love them in your garden, on a record player, with a BBQ flaming up some meats.
*Edward Sharpe is a fictional Character and is not actually a member of the band.
NO FALSE EDWARD SHARPES’ WERE HURT IN THE MAKING OF THIS FICTIONAL INTERVIEW

I love the album “Here”, and I enjoyed reading your blogpost!!! “Man on Fire”, the first song, is a warm, accepting, inclusive piece of music. You will start tapping your foot, or snapping your fingers. Right with this first song I handed myself over to the album, fully, and enthusiastically: http://t.co/hEJsuuBD
