As summer draws to a close, look to Brooklyn-based duo, Easy Lover, to infuse some life into an otherwise sad time of year. Fresh off their self-titled EP, the appropriately titled track, ‘End of the Season’, combines the ethereal voice of Kali Holloway and the futuristic sounds of multi-instrumentalist, Jeremy Wimmer. This aggregation of electronic keyboards and guitars is only a hum in the background compared to the impressive vocals of Holloway. Though her vocals are subtle throughout this song, they are the center which the remaining elements halo around, such as their pop influences. In ‘New Maggie,’ Holloway sings with a longing apprehension. The final track ‘Robo Doris’ thrusts you into heavy guitar riffs and drawn out lyrics, but this female front-woman doesn’t seem to hold back. While the electronic backtrack of this song slightly resembles the transmission of a spaceship, the duo manages to mesmerize listeners in an offbeat sort of way. Check out the Easy Lover’s video for ‘End of the Season’ below.
