Amy Turner
UK Editor
Amy is a London based music lover whose habit was fuelled by a 12 month stint in New York. Often choosing gig tickets over meals, she found that guitar riffs, drum beats and sleazy bass lines were all she needed to survive in the Big Apple. These days you will most likely find her in a crowded East London basement or at Brixton Academy. If she is not listening to music, then she is probably writing about it.
Luke Woolley
UK Editor
Born and raised in an abandoned bread factory, Luke Woolley, whilst sleeping on a yeast mixture that was fed flour for adjusting comfort, started listening to an old gramophone- the mixture had digested some time ago and spat up due to its high copper content. That is when music was born to him.
The end.
George Watts
Sound
George grew up in rural Devon, but being born in West London it was inevitable he would hear the call of the big city. On returning to London he studied music technology at the London School of Music. A self-confessed audiophile, sound recording/designing and composing and all things nerdy have become his life, and he loves it. My Morning Jacket, The Gaslight Anthem and British Sea Power are among his favourite bands.
Ed Grover
Writer (UK)
Ed Grover is a news reporter at a UK regional newspaper, based in Lincoln. Also a blogger and former music reviewer at the University of Manchester’s paper, Student Direct, Ed has a specific interest in the UK indie scene. Impressed by Andy Mckee, big choruses and attractive female singers. Unimpressed by hair metal, Rush, Simon Cowell and guitar solos. He is also the bass player for reformed indie band Ex-Presidents, from Newark, Nottinghamshire.
Georgina Metcalfe
Writer (UK)
Georgina splits her time between Australia and the UK and enjoys nothing more than a coffee made from a real coffee machine. And tea made from real tea leaves. She has a vast knowledge of music and unknowingly does very good impressions of Mick Jagger when dancing. Having just handed in the biggest document of her life (dissertation) she is looking forward to using her knowledge of what’s hot in music to contribute to Secret Sound Shop on a regular basis.
Lily BlankWriter (UK)
Born in Swansea but having moved to Surrey when she was young, Lily was raised on bands such as Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age and Placebo. She will admit to verging on being obsessive about Funeral for a Friend, rock concerts and cocoa butter, and the way to her heart is definitely through a good cup of tea. Getting bored of the South, she has set her sights on studying journalism (and of course sampling the live music scene) in Cardiff.
